Shannon joined the faculty of Eastern Music Festival in 1991 as principal clarinet. easternmusicfestival.org was founded .by Sheldon Morgenstern, and has been lead by Morgenstern, Andre Michel Schub, and, since 2005, Gerard Schwartz.During her tenure at EMF, Shannon has performed the Mozart Concerto twice, the Copland Concerto, the Weber Second Concerto, the Nielsen Concerto, the Mozart Sinfonia Concertante (concertante group) and Paul Moravec Brandenburg Gate (concertante group). Additionally, Shannon has performed many of the chamber music masterworks as part of the faculty chamber music series, including multiple performances of the Brahms Quintet op. 115, Mozart Quintet K 581 and Messian’s Quartet for the End of Time.
A unique feature of EMF is the limited enrollment of only nine clarinetists combined with two equal student orchestras, designated chamber music ensembles with two coachings each week, and weekly private and masterclass instruction for each student. The current clarinet faculty is Shannon Scott, Anthony Taylor https://vpa.uncg.edu/bios/anthony-taylor and Kelly Burke https://vpa.uncg.edu/bios/kelly-burke.
